Freemium application for recovering deleted files Recuva is a freemium application that helps you to recover and restore deleted files on your Windows computer. It can recover files of all kinds: photos, music, documents, videos, emails and more, even if it’s been a while since they got lost. Recuva can also be used to help if you have lost something after formatting the drive, which does not mean your photos, documents and ((function {(‘review-app-page-desktop’);}); Recuva were lost is a handy utility for Windows that allows you to recover lost and deleted files from almost any corner of your computer. It is a freemium program, which means that you can use this basic version without restrictions. You will need to upgrade for more recovery power, priority support, and virtual hard disk support. The Recuva portable network is also available, which is perfect if you’re helping other people with file recovery issues. Unfortunately, there seems to be no Recuva for Mac. Many people seem to want to know if there is a version of Recuve for Android. Unfortunately, the answer seems to be no: there are alternatives and applications with similar names, but they are not made by Piriform, the people who produce Recuva. But some people claim that they managed to recover deleted files on Android simply by connecting to a computer via USB or a card reader and asking Recuve to interact with it as if it were another drive. We don’t know if it works or not, but it seems possible. Download Recuve Downloading and installing this file recovery program is very easy. Downloading and installing is quick and there are no complex features or issues. However, during the installation process, you may want to click the customize button; this will allow you to choose whether you want Recuva to open at startup or stay in the application bar. In terms of looks, Recuva is pretty basic (it looked the same for at least 7 years), but since it’s such a practical program, we can’t really compare it; it’s definitely nicer to use than apps like TestDiskc, it has an interface at all! It is very easy to navigate; there are very few hidden options (all on the screen in front of you), and all recovery options go through the wizard, so there’s never any doubt as to what’s next. How is Recuva used? Using Recuve is very easy. When you decide to scan, the app will ask you where you want to scan and what you are looking for. If you know the answer to any of these questions, perfect, but if not, don’t worry; you can scan it all and see what happens. Upon completion of the scan (in our tests it was very fast, but the computer is relatively new and empty), it will display a list of all recoverable items. In addition to the file name, it will show where it is, when it was last changed, its size, and the probability that it will be restored. When known, Recuva will also report what has happened to the file since you deleted it, for example, if it was overwritten. If you find the file you are looking for and it seems recoverable, click Restore and Recovery will do its best. Choose one place to save the recovered file (Recuva seems to suggest that the chances of recovery are higher if you save the recovered file to a different drive than the one where Recuva is installed) and, if successful, you will restore the file. This lack of security feature is amongapplications like Recivae Undelete 360: you can never be sure if you will be able to recover a file, but you can also try it out. Using Recuva in the best possible way Recuvas is very easy to use, but there are several ways to customize the process. First, there is a small but useful set of frequently asked questions / help on the Recuva website, as well as a forum that includes tips on how to improve the quality of recovery and how to repair damaged Word documents, for example. Second, you can explore receiving options to make a series of small changes that will improve your overall hands-on app that does its job well. Recuva has nothing glamorous or funny, but it’s a solid little app that recovers deleted files for free, so welcome. It really has a lot to your advantage: it’s easy to use (even if you don’t have technical preferences), guides you through the wizard through all the steps, is very good (but not infallible) when retrieving files, doesn’t hide received files behind paid access and finally got a lot of help and advice online. If you have a lost recovery file, it is definitely worth a try. What’s new Recuva’s latest update adds several fixes and improvements, including: Improved support for the Ext4 and Ext3 file system Improved file scanning for the Fat32 partition Optimized secure overwriting in Windows 10 Improved drive and partition detection. Improved keyboard navigation Improved minor GUI bug fixes
